ABOUT US

Riverside Preschool is a non-profit, community-based preschool which is a hidden gem behind the Gladesville Bridge in Henley.

Riverside was purpose-built in 2002 and has a generous outdoor area, which any child would love. We are licensed for 50 children per day, with 25 children aged between 3 and 5 years in each of our two rooms. We welcome and cater for children with additional needs.

Riverside Preschool is NSW State funded, Due to Government funding guidelines priority of access is given to children that turn 4 years old by 31 July. Their aim is to give all children at least 1 year of preschool prior to starting school.

Preschools across NSW receive Start Strong Funding are therefore ineligible for Childcare Subsidy. Start Strong Funding began in 2017 in an aim to reduce fees for children whose attendance is 600 hours per year in their year before school. This means hours of preschool operation should be available to each child for 15 hours per child, per school term week. From 2023 families will also be able to access $4220 in Affordable preschool Funding to further reduce fees. Please note this funding can only be claimed at ONE community based preschool.

We provide a caring, supportive and stimulating learning environment where children are free to play, explore, discover and learn at their own pace.

We welcome you to Riverside and look forward to hearing from you.

20th Anniversary 2022

Commemorating Riverside Preschool’s 20th anniversary was a significant milestone, marking two decades of growth, community, and shared experiences. We were very excited to celebrate our 20th Anniversary with past and present families, holding a special flag raising ceremony on our newly installed flag poles. The Australian flag, Aboriginal flag and Torres Strait Islander flags will be flown on a daily basis, serving as a powerful symbol of unity and respect for the diverse cultures that form the fabric of the nation

Uncle Brendan from the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council conducted a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, sharing a moving story from his lived experience as a member of the Stolen Generations. The Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, led by Uncle Brendan, not only honors the traditional custodians of the land but also provides a poignant reminder of the histories and stories that are integral to Australia's identity. Such ceremonies are vital in fostering reconciliation and understanding, as they offer a platform for voices from the Stolen Generations to be heard and acknowledged, contributing to a collective narrative of healing and cultural affirmation.
